The Amiens SC is going through difficult times. The club is ranked at the 18^th place of the championship. So, they are close to being relegated in second division. It will be really difficult for the supporters and for the club to come back to the second division after all the efforts they made.

Currently, the transfer market is open. I hope the club will recruit a good player like a striker, for example, to score a lot of goals and to win more matches.

You can subscribe to a subscription. This subscription allows you to go to all the matches of the Amiens SC when the team plays at home. It costs around 200-250 euros. There are 19 matches at home, so, it costs around 10 and 12 euros per match. If you take a ticket at the entrance of the stadium, it costs between 20 and 25 euros. So, you win around 10 euros per match when you have a subscription.

It’s the official scarf of the Amiens SC of the last season. When you live in the North, it’s an important thing to go to the stadium with a scarf because, in winter, temperatures drop below 0 degrees.

This man is a player of Amiens. But he is more than a player, because he is the captain of the team since 2 seasons.

What is a captain?

It’s one of the pillars of the club. He must lead the team, motivate all the players when they lose and shout on his teammates when they don’t play properly. He is a person in whom everyone trusts in the team.

So, this man, in the Amiens SC, is Prince Gouano. He is in the club since 2 years and, as soon as he arrives in the club, he took the captain’s armband. He is a player with a lot of character who knows how to motivate his team.

His main qualities are to be a very strong player, with a very good head game and to have a real ability to bring the ball out of defence.

I hope this player will stay in the team for a long time.

But I don’t think because, this summer, many clubs approached him to go to their team. They have more money than Amiens and I think they will convince him next summer. But for Amiens, it’s a good thing that their players are approached by big teams. (Prince Gouano was approached by Anderlecht for example).

The coach of the club

Today, I will present an important man in the effective of the Amiens SC. His name his Christophe Pélissier. He is 53 years old and he is a former football player. He arrived in the club 5 years ago to coach the team.

His first goal was to access the second division. He reaches this objective in two years. And the next season, he managed to achieve something that had never been done before in the club: access the first division. For all the supporters, this man is a genius.

I think he is a special man because with all the clubs he coached, he realized the fact of getting them up in a higher division even though the club had a very limited budget.

He has a good tactic. He brings all his players in the same direction: they must be warriors on the ground and fight for each other. Even if they haven’t all a lot of personal qualities, he thinks that if they work as together, they can win against any team.

I wanted to introduce this person because, for me, he has a very interesting coaching philosophy and manages to unite all his players around his project.

If, one day, you have the opportunity to train a team, do not hesitate to inspire you with this person.

Access to the first division

The accession to the first division was two years ago and it’s the most important event in the history of the Amiens SC.

At this time, the club was in second division. It was the end of the season, there was still a game to play and the club was at the second place of the championship.

To access to the first division, the players of the Amiens SC had to win this last match. However, this match was a difficult match against Reims which was at the 7^th place of the championship. Therefore, the match was played in their stadium, in front of their supporters.

Match summary:

At the 13^th minute, Aboubakar Camara scores a goal for Amiens. The atmosphere in the stadium was magical. We could not hear the supporters of Reims, because those of Amiens made a lot of noise. But at the 62^th minute, Diego scores a goal too for Reims. At this moment, the ASC wasn’t in the three first of the championship (you must be in the three first of the championship to access the first division).

At the 90^th minute, the score was still 1-1. The referee gives 6 minutes of added time because there were a lot of fouls during the match. The atmosphere was tense.

At the last minute of the added time, Emmanuel Bourgeaux scores a goal and all the fans of Amiens invaded the field. It was done, the Amiens SC access the first division for the first time of his history.

Regis Gurtner

Today, I will introduce you a really nice player. He is one of the masterpieces of the Amiens SC, his name is Regis Gurtner. It’s the goalkeeper of the team.

He was born on 8 December 1986. So, today he is 32 years old. He became a professional player in 2006 at the RC Strasbourg. He stays 5 years in this club.

In August 2015, he signed at Amiens SC. At this moment, the club was still in the French third division. He lived the two ascents of Amiens SC until the first division in 2017.

I have decided to make you discover this player because, during his 3 years in Amiens, he made very important saves.

During the season 2017/2018, he realised 269 stops. He is ranked at the third place of the goalkeepers of first division. He is one of the reasons why the club is in first division yet because, without him, the team would have taken more goals and would have lost more games.

I hope this goalkeeper will stay a long time in the club because he helps the team and he is a humble person despite his status of professional player.

Amiens SC -Paris SG

The championship of France starts again last week end.

Context:

The Amiens SC has begun this new year with a big match. This match was against the Paris SG which is the best team of the championship in the last 5 years. This team is ranked first with 13 points ahead of its first competitor (Lille OSC). Therefore, the players of the Paris SG haven’t lost a match in championship this season. The club has a big budget with 500 million euros against only 36 million for the Amiens SC. So, it was a big match to begin the second part of the season.

The composition of the Amiens SC:

It’s a defensive composition because the Paris SG has really good strikers.

During the first half, the Amiens SC achieved the feat not to take goals. At halftime, the score was 0-0 but Paris has had many opportunities.

The second half was harder because the referee whistled a penalty at the 57th minute for Paris. 9 minutes later, he gives a second yellow carton to the central defender of Amiens. So, at this moment, Amiens SC played 10 against 11 on the football field. The match became more and more complicated for Amiens and the team took two more goals.

The final score of the match is: Amiens SC 0 – 3 Paris SG.

It is a logical defeat because the opponent was stronger, but the team had the merit to resist during a big part of the match.

The gardens: “Hortillonnages” (not about football)

This word comes from Latin “hortellus” which means small garden. So, the “Hortillonnages” are floating gardens situated in the center of Amiens. All these gardens are surrounded by water (canals).

You can access your garden only with a boat or using a gateway because the cars and the bike, for example, aren’t suitable.

Today, the “Hortillonnages” represent an area of ​​about 300 hectares in Amiens. But at the beginning, in the 15th century, they were more than 1500 hectares of market gardening. The reason of this diminution is that, in the past, the gardens in the “Hortillonnages” were representing the biggest activity of the city of Amiens.

Today, a new business arrives in the city. You can pay to visit all the gardens. It’s a boat ride where a guide explains you the history of the “Hortillonnages” and where you can see the flowers maintained by individuals.

If one day you come to Amiens, it’s a ride that you cannot miss.

The Cathedral (not about football)

The Cathedral of Amiens is called the cathedral “Notre-Dame”. Its construction started in 1220. For 49 years, people has worked on this building to finish the construction in 1269.

It is the largest cathedral of France with 200 000 cubic meters inside the monument. It is a cathedral with a classic gothic style (i.e. with bow breeze and bow butting inside).

It has been classified as a historical monument since 1862 and it is at the UNESCO heritage since 1981.

Inside the cathedral, you have a big labyrinth (as you can see on the picture below), and among the different drawings, you can find for example a swastika.

One of the characteristics of this cathedral is when you come in summer to see it. Indeed, nightly, the front of the cathedral is illuminated. With these illuminations, you can observe the colours the cathedral had when it was built. It’s a beautiful scene because you can imagine how was the monument in the past.

This Cathedral is one of reasons why the city of Amiens is known in France.

The Christmas market (not about football)

Because of the Christmas time, there is no football for three weeks. So, I have decided to realise 3-4 articles about the city of Amiens. I will help you to discover this city.

The Christmas market of Amiens has been created in 1997. It is one of the most beautiful Christmas market in France with 200 cottages as you can see on the picture below.

In this two km of cottages, you can find things you find in other Christmas market like sausages or hot wine for example. But you can also find specialities from Amiens or from other countries.

One of the most successful specialities in Amiens is called the macaroon of Amiens. It isn’t a macaroon as you can have in Paris, it’s something different. This candy is mainly composed of almonds, honey and sugar.

For the foreign specialities, you have for example: the Canadian cottage. In this place, you can eat lollipops which are created by a mix of maple syrup and whisky.

It’s a market which contains a lot of food and specialities of the department and where you can discover things you have never seen elsewhere.
